Three-step setup

Connect Slack first. Then GitHub.

Review Relay uses the Slack workspace installation to securely associate the GitHub repositories your team chooses next.

01

Install Review Relay in Slack

A Slack workspace administrator should select Add to Slack and approve the displayed permissions. Review Relay uses these permissions to show its App Home, respond to commands, read user timezone information, and send direct review reminders.

Add to Slack
02

Choose GitHub access

After Slack succeeds, Review Relay presents a secure Continue to GitHub button. A GitHub organization owner can then choose the organization and either all repositories or only selected repositories.

Always begin GitHub installation from the link Review Relay provides after Slack. Opening the GitHub App installation page directly omits the workspace context needed to connect both services.

03

Return to Slack and verify

Open Review Relay under Apps in Slack, connect your personal GitHub identity, and run /pr-reminder doctor. The diagnostic should confirm the Slack workspace, GitHub identity, installation, and repository access.

When everything is connected, register the first pull request with /pr-reminder add. Review Relay will automatically track future pull requests opened in that repository.

Install with confidence

Review Relay requests only the Slack and GitHub permissions needed for pull-request coordination. Repository access remains controlled by your GitHub App installation, secrets are encrypted, and signed webhook verification protects incoming events.
